Digi-Dare #111

Written by Karah on December 9th, 2008

Well we’re back after a short absence with a new address and a new look!  Because our last dare did not get the full attention it deserved, we’re reposting it again this week for everyone to enjoy!!

Hi everyone!  Karah here with this week’s dare! For those of us in the U.S., our bellies are full of turkey & stuffing and now we’re gearing up for BLACK FRIDAY!! So in the midst of all the food and busyness,  I hope you can find time to play with us this week!

First, let’s get to this week’s winners…

Our random winner this week is Rebecca H

And I chose this awesome layout by Corey:

Congratulations girls! Please email us at digidareya @ gmail . com for your prize!!

This week we have a FABULOUS new designer in the spotlight: Sabrina Dupree!

Remember, we will still have our two weekly grand prize winners, but from now on everybody who plays along with us and links up their layout in the comments section wins a 20% off coupon for Sabrina’s store!!

image1) Tell us a little about you, a short bio.

I am the 40 year old Colombian born daughter of an artist mom and photographer dad. The blessed SAHM of the two sweetest daughters, Isabella (10) and Sofia (6) I’ve been married to my husband, Jon for 14 years. I do all types of art but besides digi scrapping/designing. My favorites are photography and watercolors. I also make jewelry that I sell locally. I am a dessert loving, Starbucks addicted Pisces who
loves Colombia food, the beach and church bells.

2) How long have you been designing?

Since May 2008

3) What is your design style? What kind of inspiration do you hope to achieve with your products?

I love designing happy colors and fun, whimsical elements.  What kind of inspiration do you hope to achieve with your products?  I hope that my designs inspire people to scrap not only their special  memories but also their everyday moments.

A Few of Sabrina’s products!

4) Do you scrap?

Yes! I am a scrapper first and foremost!

What would you say your style is?

Well, I don’t think I have one style but I love creating pages that look like they are paper. When I get a comment from someone that says, “I thought this was paper”, that is the ultimate for me!

5) Where are you from?

I am from Colombia and live in Louisiana.

6) What is your favorite winter or holiday tradition?

Oh I love Christmas and all that goes along with this wonderful holiday. Baking, decorating the Christmas tree and house, taking my girls to see The Nutcracker ballet, seeing their faces on Christmas morning…..it’s all magical.

7) If you could only use one scrap supply on a layout (not
including solid paper) what would it be?

Gosh, that’s hard. Probably flowers.

8 ) What’s your favorite product you’ve created?

This changes with each creation but right now it is my newest kit, FaLaLaLaLa

9) What software do you use?

Photoshop CS2 and Ilustator CS2

10) Hot Chocolate or Mochas?

Mochas, for sure!!

***************************************

And NOW, my friends, on to this week’s dare!

It’s that time of year – a time where we bust out our very best recipes to impress the masses. Whether it’s the perfect way to roast a turkey, or the best sugar cookies on earth, or just the tradition of baking gingerbread cookies with your kids, I want you to scrap about FOOD!

Dare Flair:

  • you must use 4 photos and place them all in a row (horizontal, vertical, diagonal – totally up to you! They can be tilted or straight but it must be obvious that they are in a row). Your food of choice must be included in at least one of the photos.
  • use a recipe card for journaling! Make your own by cutting a rectangle out of a paper or find one in a kit. Your journaling can be the recipe itself or just your own thoughts.
  • baking makes me think of things that are brown so let’s smother this layout with brown goodness!
  • last but not least, use a metal fastener that is NOT a staple on your page somewhere

Have fun!

Erin:

Journaling: It all started in 1999. My mom made her famous corn muffins as part of christmas breakfast. Of course, everyone loved them. The next year my Aunt broughther own version of corn muffins, with blueberries. The year after that I made my cheese and pepper corn muffins and in2002 both my cousins brought their own muffins to our family Christmas breakfast. Now, I think we must call 2008 “the year of the corn muffin” cause clearly there will be so many of the darned things that our family will have to hang outside in the snow. Yes, the muffins have run amuck.

Journaling: Mmm…a thanksgiving feast. Mashed potatoes, yams, cranberries and of course the turkey. The turkey was never really my favorite part until Adam and I made it in Korea. We found a recipe online and it was SO good! Now we make it every year. I can’t wait!
