Hi! Karah here tonight! First, I have a little public service announcement.
We darers are a little wiped out from summer and all the back-to-school festivities so we will be taking a break for a few weeks here. We will keep you posted so you know when we’re back up & running! So be sure to enjoy this last dare for a little while!
Back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Here is Dare #148 (I’m posting for Barb who came up with this awesome dare!).
But before we get to daring, here are our two winners from last week’s dare!
Here’s our random winner Anna with this awesome layout:

It’s that time of year again, school is starting. With the start of school comes lots of memories for me of classes, sports, dances, teen angst, and teachers! This week I’d like to challenge you to write about your favorite teacher. Tell us why he or she was your favorite and if he/she inspired you to try new things or helped you through a tough time. If you don’t have a favorite teacher, tell us about your least favorite teacher. I happen to have both and I remember them both vividly.
Dare Flair:
Photos optional ~ we might not have pics available for such a layout, so don’t worry about it if you don’t.
Use Primary Colors ~ try the ROYGBIV thing….Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet
Use at least one element that is school related
Use a handwriting font for journaling
Try to incorporate paper or an element that looks like looseleaf notebook paper
Happy Back to School!
Christine:

Journaling: I remember 4th grade distinctly, because it was my first year in school after moving to the United States from Taiwan. I didn’t speak very much English and was shy and fearful at school. Mr. Teague was the most patient teacher. He made a point to teach the other kids about different cultures so that they didn’t look at me like a weirdo. Mr. Teague made me feel comfortable in a classroom where I didn’t feel like I belonged. I will always remember him for that.

Barb:

Journaling: My favorite teacher was Mr. Jim Nocella. He was my high school biology teacher in my sophomore year of high school. I loved him because he had a hilarious sense of dry humor, and the best part about it was that most of the other students were too dense to get it. He was constantly cracking me up. He was also a big rock and roll fan and was always quoting lines from The Rolling Stones like “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” when other classmates complained, which of course, they did a lot. Nocella ~ we all called him Nocella and not Mr. Nocella or Coach Nocella ~ was a great teacher, a great coach, and a big inspiration to me and plenty of my classmates, especially those of us who actually “got him”. Nocella was, and still is, a good friend of my parents. My dad taught and coached at my high school as well, and have remained friends long after my dad retired and eventually Nocella’s retirement. I have lots of memories from high school, some good and some not so good, but I’ll never forget the words to the Rolling Stones songs a la Jim Nocella in biology class.

Julie Ann:

Journaling: I owe a lot to Mrs McCormick who was a very special soul. Like several teachers in Ontario, I first met her in Elementary school. It was her goal to help my confidence and social skills. I felt smart, like I could do anything. I’ll always remember her extra efforts.
Inspired, that year in 5th grade I received straight A’s and my classmates voted me most likely to succeed. This faculty photo was taken about 3 years later at Ontario Middle School.
