Hey friends, Barb here.

We Dare Girls wanted to let you know that we’re taking this week off. With kids going back to school we’re all focused on wrapping up summer and jumping into fall.

We’re also gearing up behind the scenes to reveal our new Dare team members, and that will happen with next week’s challenge. I know I speak for my teammates when I tell you that we’ve got some SMOKIN’ new talent with some crazy-like creativity ready to come at you. Our September sponsors are awesome as well. Make sure to check back next Friday!

So for this week, just sit tight and if you didn’t get a chance to get your layout in for last week’s watery Dare, you get a reprieve!

Have a great week and Happy Scrapping!

Hi everyone! Karah here with dare #193.

First, I want to thank all of you who applied to our team call! Going through the applications has been ROUGH – so many to choose from!!! We will be announcing the new team with the first September dare. Stay tuned!!

The layouts from last week were fantastic! I loved looking through them. But I could only choose one!

This week, I’ve chosen this amazing layout by Jaymz – I love all the numbers and the stitching!:

The random pick for this week is Heidi with this gorgeous layout:

Congratulations, ladies!!! Be sure to email us at digidares *at* gmail *dot* com to claim your prizes!

The sponsor we are highlighting this week is the super-talented Camomile Designs! Click here to learn more about her (and there just might be a little coupon in there too!).

********************************************************

Dare time!

Wet ‘n’ Wild

As we hit the end of August, the heat is at its peak and there’s nothing better to do than to get WET! So this week, we’re going to scrap about the water.

Your layout can be about any kind of water – a pool, the beach, the hose, even a summer rainfall or washing the dog! But your pictures need to CLEARLY show water.

Dare Flair:

You can use more than one photo, but your main photo must be split into at least 3 sections

You must have splashes, waves or water droplets somewhere on your page

You must use AT LEAST three different shades of blue on your layout

Your title needs to be short and sweet – one word only!!

Check out this inspiration from our darers!

Hi everyone! Amanda here with this week’s dare!! This one is a little more “light-hearted” than most of my dares, but it was a really fun page to do!

Before we move on with our dare, allow me to announce our winners from this past week’s dare!!

The Darer’s Choice award goes to kulscrap! It was her composition that initially caught my eye, but when I took a closer look, I was even more amazed by her ability to scrap these photos! These are hard photos to scrap!!! She pulled it off with such style!!

Our Random Drawing prize goes to JaymeZ! Fabulous layout!! So many fun details and such energy!

Congratulations, ladies!!! Be sure to email us at digidares *at* gmail *dot* com to claim your prizes!

DON’T FORGET….

Our call for new darers is still going strong – but it will be ending on Sunday (8/15) so be sure to send in your apps ASAP!

This week’s sponsor is yours truly! Click HERE to check out goodies!

And now for this week’s dare!

famous last words…
Do you ever catch yourself sounding just like your mother? Or maybe your great “grandpa joe” or your “aunt Lily May”? What about quotes from your favorite movie or even your friend around the corner? For me… it is increasingly often that I catch myself quoting things that other people say that stand out to me. Some are “one-liner” words of advice. Some are funny things I say to make my kids laugh. Some are prefaced with “well, like the guy on that movie said…” And some are even disciplinary statements I say with a louder, authoritative sounding tone, although I sometimes have to turn my face for a moment and snicker thinking “oh my gosh… i sound like my mom!” hahahaha.

So let’s hear them! Tell us some of the things that have been imprinted into your mind throughout your life.

dare flairs…
- Let’s see at least 5 sayings that have really stuck with you over the years (or recently). (But don’t limit yourself! You can use as many as you wish… but at least 5.)
- Let’s give credit where credit is due! hahaha. For each saying you use, tell us who first said it to you or who you heard the quote from.
- Use an arrow of any kind somewhere on your layout. It’ll help visually express the “repetiveness” in it all.
- Since the journaling will be more of our focus here (i know… *shock* right? lol) let’s use at least one letter or symbol from your favorite alpha.
- Photos aren’t required, but if you use one, personal or stock photos are acceptable.

As always, this can be as funny or as sappy as you like. I can’t wait to see what you create!!

Here is some inspiration from our Dare Team to get your mojo flowing!

The Dare is based on the roadblocks and detours of my summer’s driving experiences, as it seems that even a simple trip to the store for milk and bread has been complicated by a detour of some kind due to road construction going on just about everywhere! However, one day, instead of cursing (literally) at the newest detour, I decided to take a positive attitude and have a photo adventure, and from the moment I took out my camera, I actually began to enjoy the ride down yet another unknown country road.

You may interpret this any way you wish: a personal life detour, a path yet to be chosen, a lesson learned, a new destination, or are you stuck in a roadblock?

Dare Flair:

photos, are optional

the quote below, is mandatory:

“The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same.
Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.”
by Don Williams, Jr.

and here’s some inspiration from the Dare Team to inspire you!

Hey Friends!

Barb here for this week’s Dare.

I want to thank everybody for their participation last week, it’s nice to see what everybody is doing this summer.

My pick for this week’s Darer pick is by MommaTrish with this stupendous layout about her 4th of July:

Our random winner this week is from Kate with her Road Trip layout:

A big thanks to everybody who participated this week and taking time from all of your summer fun to play along with us! And for our winners, drop us an email to digidares *at* gmail *dot* com to claim your prizes.

Some new news to report on The Digi Dares scene…we’re up on Twitter now! Be sure to follow us and we’ll follow you back. You can find us here on Twitter. Our Twitter ID is TheDigiDares.

Now, let’s get to the good stuff, this week’s new Dare!

As kids, most of us had some idea of what we wanted to do when we grew up. I know that for me, what I thought I wanted to do as a kid turned out to be nothing like what I ended up studying in school and doing as an adult. Now that I’m older, if I could do it all over again, I would do things entirely different as well.

So for this week’s Dare, tell us about what you wanted to be when you grew up, and how things turned out as you became an adult. If you’d like, you can also tell us about what you’d do if you had a chance to do things over again.

Dare flare:
Photos are optional, but a frame is a must
Use some kind of photo or element that represents what you wanted to do as a kid
Use at least two patterned papers

Here’s what some of our brilliant Darers came up with this week:

From Amanda:

journaling…
i remember very well as a kid insisting that i would be a vet when i grew up. Although that is not where my life went at all, every now and then, i get a little pocket of time where i can at least express that love for animals. our 2 bearded dragons mated. i knew [to some degree] what a pregnant bearded dragon meant, but like many other things, you just can’t really know what it takes. so yes, there are a TON of them with more to come. they eat like little monsters and cost a fortune to care for. but each time one goes to a new home, i feel an ache. they are the sweetest little guys and though it is a whole lot of work, i am so helplessly attached to them. i love it. i talk to them. i name them. i worry about them when i’ve been away from home for a while. i lose sleep if i feel like something is “off”, their lighting, the temperature, did they get enough to eat today. i smile and take the heat when others think it’s odd. the happy feeling in my heart they give me just makes it all worth it. every tiny bit.

names…
smokey joe – color is all black + grey. motown jack – black + some orange. mustang sally – came out of the egg running… jumped out of my hand 6 times from the egg to the tank. spicy pete – the last orange one left in 2nd clutch. jack-b-nimble – runs around tank trying to climb the walls of the tank all day, everyday. sunny d – the lightest in color of all in 3rd clutch. slim shady – the skinniest one of all in 3rd clutch. lucy lou – very calm and waits patiently for the crickets to come to her. jack black – named by gage, he’s 1 of only 2 in the 3rd clutch that has black in color. zorro – the one
with the most black in the 2nd clutch. swiper – watched him snag a cricket right out from under his brother and then take off to hide behind the rocks. dusky-dawn – passed away while hatching. happy gilmore – super friendly and jumps onto my hand each time i reach down into the tank. biggie smallz – the runt of the 3rd clutch. johnny come lately – hatched 7 days after the 1st egg hatched in the 3rd clutch. cheddar bob – brightest orange one in the 3rd clutch. name inspired from “cheddar bob” in the movie 8-mile. date: june2010

“You’d think this would be an easy question, right? Not. When I was a kid, I figured I’d be a teacher like my dad, but I really wanted to be a businesswoman. Given my aptitude for math and computers, I ended up goimg to engineering school and became a computer geek. I did that for a long time, but I never liked it. My creative side was always begging to be unleashed. My career has evolved into marketing and while it’s okay, I don’t have much passion for it. Sports are the real passion in my life, and if I could choose my dream job, I woulld be a reporter for ESPN, covering NFL Football and NHL hockey. Maybe in my next life I’ll be on SportsCenter.”

Karah here – posting for Crystal!

I will come back shortly and add in our winners from last week, but first I want to get this week’s dare out to you!

Our sponsor this week is the super-sweet, super-talented Sally Keller! Click here to learn more about her.

And now for Dare #186!

Do you ever have a moment that you think is just perfect?! So you snap a picture and are so excited to rush to the computer and see how it turned out only to be disappointed? You feel like your moment/ memory was slightly ruined due to an imperfect photo. I have had this so many times! As a scrapbooker, if you are like me, you take your camera most everywhere and get so excited to be snapping away at pictures you know are going to work perfectly with a certain kit. When you go to look at them they are just not total perfection like you want and then you kinda toss them aside. Well today we are going to embrace these imperfect photos from our perfect memories and moments!

For this weeks dare I want you to scrap a photo that is totally not perfect, but the memory/moment behind it is very perfect. It could be imperfect due to composition (ie, background, cropping, etc.) or just blurry or out of focus.

Dare Flair:

Photos are definitely a must. You may use as many as you would like, but they must all be imperfect! Make them black and white or sepia too.

Let’s see some themey elements to help convey your perfect memory. So if it was just a summer day, let seem some Summer themed elements on your page (Sun, sand..etc.).

Use bright bold colors…any colors of your choice, but I want to see some pop against the colorless photos.

Journaling is a total must! I want to be a part of your perfect memory and know exactly what is happening in your imperfect photo.

journaling…
ok, so i have certainly never claimed to be a professional photographer by any means… my photos are rarely perfect… or even intentional for that matter. but my 55-200mm lens… my favorite lens ever in the whole world… is not working properly. the automatic focus has stopped working. and since you, my dear are the subject of 90% of my photos, and you are 4 and constantly on the move… the manual focus mode just doesn’t cut it most of the time. so now 3/4 of the shots i get with any given photo shoot turn out like this… BLURRY and out of focus. never-the-less… you manage to shine right through it. whether you’re running full speed ahead, swinging, or just standing there looking pretty, i miss the shot… it drives me CRAZY! but although the camera doesn’t “capture” you as crisp and clear as i’d like it to… you capture ME with every blurry moment. xoxoxoxoxo

Hi everyone! Karah here again with this week’s dare!

First, let’s give away some prizes!!

Last week’s layouts were AMAZING. It was so hard to pick just one. But pick I did! I chose this wonderful layout by Gilmore Girl:

And our random pick is this SUPER cute layout by Cara:

Congratulations, girls! Be sure to email us at digidare *at* gmail *dot* com to claim your prizes!

Our sponsor this week is our very own Jodie McNally!! You can check out her awesome stuff at Oscraps.com!

And now for this week’s Dare:

My wish that never came true….

The other day, I was thinking about how badly I wanted a trampoline when I was growing up. But my parents would never let me get one. I asked for one for every birthday and Christmas but to no avail. It may have damaged me permanently.

Just kidding. I probably made it out with a few less injuries than I would have otherwise.

For this week’s Dare, I want you to think about something from your childhood that you wanted but never got! It could be something like a pet, a toy, a boyfriend, a position on a sports team – you name it!

Dare Flair:

Include a photo of yourself NOW (must have been taken within the last 3 months)

Include a photo (stock photos are fine) of the object of your affection

Since we all remember “wishing on a star”, you must use 5 DIFFERENT stars on your layout

Be sure to journal – tell us if you still regret that your wish didn’t come true or if you’re totally over it now!

Center your layout on your page

Journaling:
My greatest childhood dream was to win a skating Barbie and Ken.
I did not win, but got a good memory, because every time I see, I remember
the best and sweetest stage of my life … What is being a kid!
